It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website. I hope that you find it informative and inspiring to know that a boutique school can have a powerful influence on a student's development.
Building up IIS and watching it grow has been a tremendous privilege and I would like to take a moment to explain why IIS is special and different from the "giants" in education.
Why IIS was Created
In Singapore, families have the luxury of choosing from a variety of big, well-established International Schools. However, as a Psychologist specializing in the well-being of children, I have seen too many bigger schools having to sacrifice the personal touch and care of each student due to limited resources and time. At IIS, we are committed to doing everything in our power to help our students get the chance they deserve to make significant contributions to our community and to feel good about doing this. Our students are on our minds every day and our wish is to be able to make a pivotal difference in their and their family's life.
Why Two Educational Streams?
In Singapore, academic excellence is part of everyday culture and heavily emphasised in school systems. Often children with learning differences or special needs, however, do not fit in the "cookie-cutter" definition of academic excellence and miss out on a variety of opportunities because their mind learns and processes information differently. Education can no longer take a "one size fits all" approach, which is why we offer our students differentiated learning. We therefore are one of only two International Schools, who have one Mainstream and one Support Stream also known as the S.T.A.R.S. (Specialized Teaching And Responsive Students) Stream.
Our Belief
We believe that every child deserves a good quality education and the opportunity to be successful human beings. With this belief goes our motto that every child can learn with the right approach. We believe that it is our job as educators to foster joy in learning.
We have the privilege of demonstrating to our students who they really are: capable, competent, and respected individuals of our community. Finally, I hope that our learning community energises and renews your child's and your belief in the power of commitment, care, and hard work to achieve anything we as a team desire!
